Immune System Medicine is practiced mainly by the Healers of the Amazon to cure the population through the use of this Medicine among others.
The first historical documents in relation to this Medicine appear around 1920, belonging to French Jesuit monks who came into contact with the natives. Previously it was not a known therapy, only by ethnic groups of the Amazon. In 1980 they began to study, its chemical composition, in different universities. Already by the 90’s the native use of this Jungle Medicine began to expand, towards intermediate rural populations between the jungle and the city, and finally reached the cities.
The frogs (Phyllomedusa Bicolor) are marked by the threads with which they were tied and this allows that for 3 months the frog is not collected again for extraction. It is a very careful and respectful process, it is not “drained” to the frog, also by the fact that the secretion has a more intense therapeutic action if it is the first extraction that is made to the frog.
Each person who collects these secretions must work in this way to maintain the quality of the Medicine and take care of the ecological balance.
Regarding the chemical components, about 70 different types of substances from this secretion are known (there are 70 patented substances to date). Some of these components have vasodilator, purgative, antidepressant, analgesic properties, among others.
This Medicine is not illegal anywhere in the world. It is not a therapy that is used clandestinely, in fact it is a therapy spread and used throughout the continents; in the United Kingdom there is a clinic where they perform treatments with this technique.
This medicine comes from the frog (Phyllomedusa Bicolor).
The process of extracting the secretion has its differences within each ethnic group of the Amazon.
This frog emits a secretion through its skin, like a kind of sweat. To extract it, the frog is tied to each leg and massaged on the fingers of its paws, so that they emit the secretion and be able to collect it. Once it is removed with wooden tablets, it is dissected and extracted through a rehydration process.
The way in which I learned is very specific, since it generates a therapeutic context of observation of several factors. It is very different the modality in which this therapy is used within the jungle to which we apply in Centro Cauce. The way in which we carry out this therapy involves several elements of therapeutic care, choice of context, physical space, care and containment of the person. After a session, you usually end up very tired and introspective, and in the following days you usually feel a lot of energy, vitality and ability to tackle various activities.
There are certain people who can not receive this Medicine, so there are considerations about who can take this therapy or not, so it is important to do it with those who have received adequate training.
